]]> Year 5 thoroughly enjoyed their trip to York this year. The action packed itinerary included visits to Wonderlab at the Railway Museum, the Jorvik Centre and Dig as well as York Chocolate Story, where they were able to learn about the history of this ancient city, as well as its reputation as a chocolate making centre (chocolate tasting and making included!). On the visit to Flamingo Land they enjoyed an informative tour of the zoo as well as testing their courage levels on the roller coasters. In addition they also managed to spend a day on a Viking village, dressed as, and living like, Vikings with their hardworking, Saxon slaves!

Each week, students were posed a number of questions about the text to consider with their parents as they read. Students then met with Dr Groszewski to discuss their ideas every Thursday. 

This week, we were delighted to welcome our Year 5 parents to school for lunch and activities related to the book. We were particularly impressed with the artistic skills of some of our students and parents when they were set the challenge of redesigning the cover for one of Sherlock Holmes’s most famous cases.  

Thank you to all the parents and students who participated in the book club. We’re delighted that you had so much fun with this shared experience.
